We recently had the honor of working again with another one of our favorite photographers, Dave Marano of David Marano Photography. He is the expert behind all of our product shots here at Verve Jewelry and couldn’t be more fun and easier to work with. Most of the time it doesn’t even feel like work!
Here are some pics from the session. You can also check out his beautiful work at davidmarano.com.
Vintage bangles, a small collection of antique wedding bands and the gold bracelet that Bjoern’s Oma in Germany so generously gifted down to me. That’s just some of the pieces in my jewelry box (well, closet).
I think you can tell a lot about a woman by the jewels that she collects and wears. And the fashion stages she has gone through. Like the HUGE malachite wire wrapped ring I used to wear religiously in my raver days. And that rings not going anywhere. I might not wear it anymore but that doesn’t mean there wont be a day in the future that it wont slip back into rotation. I keep all of my jewelry, even if it is “passe”. You never know when it will be back in fashion again. And besides, the thought of passing down my collection makes me happy. And isn’t that what jewelry is all about? To make us happy.
So in honor of all you sexy, saucy, fashion loving, jewelry obsessed women out there, I am creating a blog entry highlighting different women and their jewelry boxes. Their most prized and beloved bling. And some great stories and memories too. “A Peek Inside” the jewelry boxes of some fabulous women and their fabulous jewels.
Sometimes it’s just time for some fun. And a give away. And a Thank You. So I have combined all of these into a contest to give away one of my new pieces. I love giving unique names to my jewelry because I think it’s important in telling it’s story. And there is always a story behind jewelry. That’s one of the reasons I love it so much. I thought it would be fun to let you guys pick the name behind this one. What comes to your mind? What is this little guy’s name? The FB fan with the most fabulous and creative name gets to take this guy home and give it a new story. It is made with vintage brass and has a pyrite chunk as an accent. Please vote at facebook.com/vervejewelry now until Sunday August 5th. Winner will be announced August 6th. THANKS AGAIN to all of you for a great 6 years! More give aways to come!!!
I have a new favorite piece of jewelry that I love to make. And wear. And see on people. Shoulder duster earrings!! Man, are they sexy. I love how stylish they are, and how they add that funkiness to your outfit. They can really add sex appeal to your favorite dress or tank top, highlighting and showcasing your arms and clavicle area.
I particularly love the long and wispy chain versions. Like my “Jackie” earrings shown below. I use various vintage brass chains, and brass findings but use 18k gold filled posts so that they are easier on your earlobes. These guys are really fun and I have been selling them like crazy.
The newest trend in “duster” earrings also not only “dust” your shoulders, but some even go way past them. I personally think they look best not too, too far past your shoulders. But then again, maybe if I was still in my 20’s I would be rockin’ those long bad boys too! For now I stick to the ones that go right to, and a little bit past, my shoulders.
These earrings are also great when wearing ponytails, up-dos and with side swept hair. Skip the necklace and showcase some long and linear shoulder dusters. The look is fresh and elegant and adds some edge. I think the fashion forward bride should forgo the traditional bridesmaids necklace and add a shoulder duster instead. Very hip and sophisticated if done with fine materials. Like wispy, dainty gold filled chains? Gorgeous.
So draw some attention to those gorgeous neck and shoulders of yours. These statement earrings are a look all of us can pull off.
